Yesterday at work, I called a customer and it went to voicemail. As soon as I heard the beep, before I could even introduce myself, I burped. I stumbled through the message, trying not to laugh, and then finished it as quickly as possible. When I saw the customer later that day, I asked if he got our message. He hadn’t listened to it yet. So yeah, at some point, he’s going to check his voicemail and the very first thing he’ll hear will be my burp.

I called Delta Airlines once, and it was one of those things where they said, “Press or say x .” At one point, it asked for a response and I burped “BRAAAPP!” The computer said, “I’m sorry; that is not a valid response.”

My two most embarrassing phone faux pas (wait, what’s the plural of “ pas” ??):
Preparing to end a call with a co-worker, already mentally in gear for the next phone call to my wife, and I hang up the phone with “I love you.”
Sitting on a sales call, putting my headset on mute, hearing my sales guy make some terribly misleading statement and groaning very loudly, only to find out that the hardware mute no longer works. “Are you ok?” I hear moments after everyone goes silent.

I haven't listened to a voicemail since I got visual voicemail on my phone almost 2 years ago.

I’ve decided it must be “fauxs pas” after teaching my 7-year-old cousin last night after a delightful evening of mini golf that it’s “holes-in-one”.

I would really like it if our members of congress could figure out that people like the Attorney General and Surgeon General are not generals, and should not be referred to as General Sessions, General Adams, etc. (indeed the Surgeon General is always given the rank of Vice Admiral in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps ). They do this all the time in hearings and it drives me nuts to think that the people making decisions for our country are so poorly educated.

I can’t believe we still have non-visual voicemail in places (I have to deal with it both on my phone (because I’m too cheap to pay Sprint for what Google gave me for free, and a work, because even with our new crappy Cisco Jabber based phone system, we don’t get something that should be considered a basic feature at this point.)

Yep, I mean not all of them, but it’s definitely something I’ve heard many times, both with S essions and with previous Attorneys General. The first time I heard it was with Ashcroft, but I don’t know if it is an artifact of post-9/11 militarism, or if it goes back even beyond that.
